Construction Calculators
Concrete, lumber, framing, paint, and jobsite calculators.
Construction math is mostly volume and area, and the mistakes are mostly units. A slab is priced in cubic yards but measured in feet and inches, mulch is sold by the bag but specified by depth, and paint is sold by the gallon but spread over square feet. Every calculator here does that unit bridge for you and shows the working, so you can check the number before it turns into a delivery.
Start from what you are buying. If you are ordering ready-mix or bags, the concrete calculators take length, width and thickness and return both cubic yards and a bag count at the size you choose. For ground cover, the mulch and gravel calculators work from area and depth — depth is where most over-ordering happens, since three inches instead of two is fifty percent more material. For interior work, the paint coverage calculator handles coats and deducts doors and windows, which matters more than people expect on a room with a lot of glass.
Two conventions are worth knowing before you measure. Lumber is sold by nominal size, so a 2×4 is actually 1.5 by 3.5 inches, and board feet are calculated from the nominal dimensions rather than the real ones. And waste allowance is not padding — tile, flooring and mulch all need five to fifteen percent extra for cuts, settling and spillage, and every calculator here that needs one lets you set it rather than burying an assumption.

Concrete Bags Calculator
Work out how many bags of concrete mix a slab, footing or post hole needs. A 10 x 5 ft slab at 4 in thick takes 38 sixty-pound bags. Formula and examples.
Open toolConcrete Block Calculator
Work out how many concrete blocks a wall needs. A 20 x 8 ft wall in standard 8 x 16 CMU takes 180 blocks, 12 courses of 15, and 6 bags of mortar.

Mulch Calculator
Work out how many cubic yards or bags of mulch a bed needs. 160 sq ft at 3 in deep takes 20 two-cubic-foot bags. Includes depth guidance and examples.
Open toolStone Calculator
Work out tons, cubic yards and bags of landscape stone or rock. A 20 x 10 ft bed at 3 in of river rock takes 2.63 tons. Covers eight stone types by density.

Asphalt Calculator
Work out how many tons of asphalt a driveway or lot needs. A 50 x 12 ft drive at 3 in thick takes 10.9 tons of hot mix. Includes coverage and cost tables.
Open toolConcrete PSI Calculator
Convert a cylinder or cube break-test load into concrete compressive strength in psi and MPa, and compare it to your design strength.
Open toolCubic Yard Calculator
Turn length, width and depth into cubic yards. A 10 x 10 ft slab at 4 in deep is 1.23 cubic yards, ordered as 1.5. Includes cost and a cu ft to cu yd table.
Open toolDeck Board Spacing Calculator
Calculate how many deck boards you need and the exact gap spacing for even board distribution across your deck width.
Open toolDrywall Mud Calculator
Estimate the drywall joint compound you need for a project, including coats, coverage, waste, and container count.
Open toolFence Picket Spacing Calculator
Find how many fence pickets you need and the exact gap between them so your boards land evenly from post to post.
Open toolGravel Calculator Tons
Estimate gravel volume, weight in tons, and material cost from your project area, depth, gravel type, and price per ton.
Open toolGutter Size Calculator
Size gutters and downspouts fast enter roof dimensions, pitch, and rainfall intensity to get the right gutter width.
Open toolLumber Shrinkage Calculator
Estimate how much a board will shrink or swell as its moisture content changes, by species, grain orientation, and target MC.
Open toolRebar Spacing Calculator
Calculate rebar counts and actual spacing for a rectangular slab using its dimensions, edge cover, and maximum bar spacing.
Open toolRoof Pitch to Degrees Calculator
Convert roof pitch to degrees and back. Enter rise over run to get the roof pitch angle in degrees, with a table of common roof pitch angles.
Open toolSquare Footage Calculator
Work out the square feet of a room from feet-and-inches measurements. A 12 ft 6 in by 10 ft 3 in room is 128.13 sq ft. Converts to sq yd, sq m and sq in.
Open toolTile Grout Calculator
Calculate the grout volume needed for tiled areas using tile size, joint width, joint depth, coverage area, and waste allowance.
